As you may have heard on the news this week, the CDC has just issued a warning that a second wave of flu has begun. We have noticed this at Cathedral this week with a handful of students being absent with flu-like symptoms, fevers, and positive flu tests. While we are NOT seeing an increase in our absentee rates at Cathedral now, we don’t want to – just want you to be aware that influenza is still active within our school community.
We are fortunate that we have a four day weekend and Spring Break coming up very soon to hopefully “break” the spread of flu at our school, but a reminder about good handwashing to all can help us contain this, covering coughs, and cleaning desks, doorhandles, etc – measures that will be taken here inside our buildings.
Additionally, parents are asked to keep their students home per our school policy when they have a fever greater than 100 – and returning the students to school only when they have been fever free for at least 24 hours without the aid of fever reducing medications. Call your physician if your child has a fever, cough, extreme fatigue, or any other concerning symptom.
Thanks to all for helping control illness here at Cathedral!
