Cathedral High School is excited to announce the hiring of our new girls varsity volleyball coach, Mary Hemer. Hemer is no stranger to Cathedral. She graduated from Cathedral in 2009, and was a member of the Cathedral volleyball state championship teams in 2006 and 2008. Hemer received a volleyball scholarship to the University of Wisconsin where she played three positions and was co-captain her senior year. In her fifth year at Wisconsin, Hemer was a student volunteer coach. She now serves as a school Counselor at Cathedral High School
“I have been around volleyball for 15 years,” says Hemer. “Being named the head coach of Cathedral’s girls volleyball program is an honor that I don’t take lightly. I’m very excited about this opportunity because I know Cathedral, I know the program, and I know the athletes. It’s great to be in the driver’s seat and help our athletes not only develop their volleyball skills, but help them develop skills that will serve them for the rest of their lives.”
Hemer is looking forward to meeting with both current and prospective players and their families. She will meet with current players and parents on Monday, December 10 at 6:30 p.m. in Cathedral’s cafeteria. Hemer will meet with middle school players/prospective Cathedral students on Tuesday, December 11 at 6:30 p.m. in Cathedral’s cafeteria.
