Central Indiana Knights defeated the Columbus Icemen, Indianapolis Southstars, and Bloomington Blades this past weekend to advance to the 3A State Finals. This is the third year in a row CIK has advanced to the finals. The Knights will play Evansville Thunder on Saturday in Dyer, IN at 4:00pm (CST). Each year the Higher Education Marketing Report recognizes universities, high schools, and middle schools across the country for their outstanding work in print, advertising, and social media. The 34th Annual Advertising Awards have been announced and Cathedral won two Golds—one for our open house ad and one for social media! Congratulations to our awesome marketing department!
Congratulations to Jack Hutchens ’19 on his appointment to the United States Naval Acadamy! We are so proud of Hutchens for earning this honor, as acceptance into the U.S. Naval Academy is 8%! May God continue to bless this young man’s journey and all who are called to serve.
Congratulations to Megan Kaster ’20 on her outstanding performance at the All Ireland Dancing Championships in Ireland! Kaster placed seventh in her soft shoe recall, 37th in her hard shoe recall, and 39th overall. Thousands of dancers from all over the world compete in this event. In April, Kaster will travel to Greensboro, North Carolina to participate in the World Championships of Irish Dance. Congratulations, Megan Kaster, and know that your Cathedral Irish family is extremely proud of you!
Congratulations to Abby Thomas ’19, pictured bottom row, second from the left, on her selection to the Indiana Legislative Youth Advisory Council. The group held its first Legislative Day earlier this month, and advised the Indiana General Assembly on topics related to Indiana youth through the suggestion, endorsement, and advocacy of relevant legislation and policy. Way to go, Abby Thomas!
With just one math league competition left in the 2018-19 competition season, Senior Blake Lowe continues to lead the field with 24 points. He is closely followed by Brendan Hurley and Nick Grill, each with 23. Isaac Michael has 21, and Sammy Kacius has 20. Dominic Quadrini and Alex Koers with 19, Andrew George and Harry Huang with 18, and John Chai and Henry Eifert with 17 round out the field. Good luck to all in our last competition on March 19!
Math “Open Gym” is a free opportunity for Cathedral students to gather with a Cathedral math teacher and National Honor Society tutors on Sunday afternoons from 2 to 4 p.m. at school. This is not one-on-one tutoring or an opportunity to work ahead, but help will be available to do homework or to review with students in algebra, geometry, pre-calculus, IB mathematics, and calculus. No reservations are necessary, but students are required to be picked up or to leave campus promptly at 4 p.m. Students should wear their lanyards, enter through the student entrance, and report to Room 4142 upon arrival.…
